Achievers University, Owo holds Law Week, to host ex-Gambian CJ

…….Former Chief Justice of Gambia Delivers Achievers Varsity Inaugural Law College Public Lecture

The inaugural Annual Law Week of Achievers University begins on Monday, 2nd August, 2021 with a Public Lecture by the former Chief Justice of The Gambia, Honourable Justice Emmanuel Olusegun Fagbenle. The Guest Lecturer will speak on “Independence of the Judiciary in Nigeria: Lessons from The Gambia and Other Jurisdictions”.


The event will be hosted by the Dean of the College of Law, Professor Odunola Akinwale Orifowomo, also a former Justice of the Court of Appeal of The Gambia.

The following day, Hon. Justice Oluwafeyisayo Kuteyi of the Ondo State High Court will preside at the Moot Court Trial between the Equity Chambers and Liberty Chambers of the College of Law.

That is not the only surprise in store from the Law Students of the first private University in Ondo and Ekiti States. On Wednesday, the Law Students will be hosting a Career Talk for its members and the public.

According to Toyosi Obada, President, Law Students’ Association of Nigeria,
Achievers University, Owo Chapter, “although it will be a week full of learning and entertainment, that won’t be enough without reaching out to or influencing others”.

After the Career discussion, at 12:00 p.m. at Imade College and Owo High School, there will be a Humanitarian Sensitization Outreach by the Law Students, focusing on Gender-Based Violence.

The week of intense activities will be punctuated by a Debate and Oratory Contests among members of the Law Students’ Association on Thursday, followed by indoor games.

On Friday, there will be a Juma’at Thanksgiving Service, which precedes the Annual Dinner of the Association to be held at Fem Royal Hotel, Owo, in honour of the Visioner and Pro-Chancellor of the University, Hon. Dr. Bode Ayorinde.

The one-week event will be rounded off with another Thanksgiving Service on Sunday.
