Adetimehin, Oke, Adefarati, others receive Muyiwa Adu, loyalists to APC from PDP

…..say Opposition had been grounded Ended In Ondo State.

It was a carnival like today in Akure and another season of harvest for the All Progressives Congress APC in Ondo state as a former House of representatives candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Barrister Olumuyiwa Adu led other PDP chieftains and members to defect to the ruling party.

The glamorous and colourful event held at the MKO Abiola democracy Park, Akure, had in attendance, party stalwarts, Chieftains, members of the state executive council and supporters of the defectors from their various local government areas.

A popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Abass Akande aka Obesere entertained guests at the event.

Receiving the defectors to the party, the APC chairman on Ondo state, Engr Ade Adetimehin expressed joy  that those joining the APC was a reflection of how accommodating the ruling party was and testimony of the unity and harmony within the party.

Engr. Adetimehin revealed that the main opposition party, PDP ha been grounded in Ondo State with the latest defection.

According to Adetimehin, “This is the end of the opposition in Ondo State, this is the large part of PDP and other opposition combined together, joining the ruling party in Ondo State.

He stressed that “we are able to achieve this because Governor Akeredolu is working hard to uplift the standard of progressive APC in Ondo State. Since we came on board, we have been receiving from opposition, our party has been waxing stronger everyday, no member of our party has ever defected to any political party”.

“We are well structured and we won’t disappoint the people of Ondo State, with what the people of the state were able to give us during the last election, you will know that APC is on ground in Ondo State, we know our onions. We shall continue to serve the people of the state as we have promised”.

“Before this decamping, we’ve been receiving people, this is not the first time. The essence of coming is because the party is performing, we run an open administration in our party. Apc is well united in Ondo state, APC is a party with no founder and no joiner, everyone is equal”, Adetimehin said.

While describing the defection as uncommon, Adetimehin stated that the day is a day of joy for APC in Ondo State, as the party is getting bigger and larger. He, however, appreciaed Governor Akeredolu for giving the party the opportunity to strive in the state.

Hon. Yinka Banso, a former member of the Ondo State House of Assembly noted that the defection is a welcome development because people are very happy.

He added that the incoming president should endeavor to address the issue of insecurity, economy and youth empowerment. “I know that Asiwaju Tinubu will keep the ground rolling from the day assumes office, Nigerians have nothing to worry about, concerning his administration”.  

Reacting on behalf of other defectors, Barr Olumuyiwa Adu appreciated the leaders of Apc for making the party worthy of coming to.

He also commended Adetimehin for being transparent and straight forward, and also Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for his huge achievements.

Responding on behalf of other defectors, Olumuyiwa Adu said coming to join the APC was to further strengthen the party and democracy.

He promised to join hands with APC leaders and members towards moving the party forward, adding that he would ensure that he took upon himself the welfare of all members in the next two years.

Adu said, “For the next two years, I will ensure that I remain the welfare officer in apc to make other members happy”.

Other demcampees from PDP and other parties are Oluseyi Kolawole, Banji Obanla, Hon. Ranti Fakinlede, Elder Smart Oloye, Mr Femi Omolafe, Babatunde Falae, Felix Ogundairo, Barr Funke Lawani, Hon. Sunday Afolabi.

The official declaration which took place at MKO Abiola democracy Park, Akure, had in attendance; Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice of Ondo State, Sir Charles Titiloye; Chief Olusola Oke, SAN; the Chairman, Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan; Senator-elect Adeniyi Adegbonmire; Hon Adegboyega Adefarati; the Chairman, Akure South Local Government, Barr. Gbenga Olaniyi, among other top functionaries.
