Akeredolu to declare open 2023 OSEPA Summit on Sept 28
OSEPA SET TO HOST 2023 SUMMIT ON SEPT 28
All is now set for the hosting of year 2023 Summit organized by the Ondo State Environmental Protection Agency, (OSEPA) to brainstorm with environmental Stakeholders.
The theme of the OSEPA Summit is; “Combating the Menace of Plastic Pollution” and it will hold at The International Cultural & Events Centre (The Dome) on Thursday 28th September, 2023.
The Governor of the State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON will be the Special Guest of Honour and declare the event open.
It was a world class event in 2022 and the first of its kind in the State when the Ondo State Environmental Protection Agency hosted Environmental Stakeholders during the 1st Summit.
The Summit brought to the fore the ENVIRONMENTAL hazards occasioned by single use plastic and its components.
Summit 2023 is now Action Time for the Agency to account to Stakeholders the plans already executed.
The Special Adviser to Mr Governor on Environment, Hon Oyeniyi Oseni noted the need for continous engagement of Stakeholders on the need for a collective responsibility towards the protection of the Environment.
Oseni therefore invited all Environmental Sustainability Experts, Captains of Industries, Government Officials, Royal Fathers, Lecturers, Students, Market Women and all Stakeholders to join in the discussion.
The SA said that “we all have to be deliberate in Combating the Menace of Plastic Pollution to make the world a better place for us all.”
After extensive deliberations by the Environmental enthusiasts in 2022, Action plans for speedy implementation were arrived at which included, among others; • Domestication of National Policy on Plastic. •Establishment of Plastic buy back Centres. •Mandating all Sources of used Plastics to provide Drop-off Boxes •Aggressive Advocacy against Single use Plastics. •Developing Base line data to ascertain the volume of Plastic waste generated in the State.
