….says All outstanding issues on Wards Congress resolved.
All outstanding issues and blemish that characterised the last weekend’s APC congress in few wards in Ondo state have been resolved, even as the APC ward Committee headed by Prince Gboyega Isiaka from National Secretariat has completed its assignment in the 203 wards in the state.
There was a protest by members and leaders of APC from Ifedore local government area of the state on yesterday alleging manipulation of their agreed list of wards Executives.
The Speaker of the state Assembly, Bamidele Oleyelogun who addressed the protested Ifedore APC members, promised that Governor Oluwatotimi Akeredolu and party’s leadership would resolve the outstanding issues.
But the committee chairman, Prince Gboyega Isiaka, while addressing a press conference at the party’s secretariat along Oba Adesida road, Akure, expressed his happiness at the way the ward congress in Ondo state went well in most wards except in few wards which had been resolved.
“We (committee) did it (assignment) in conjunction with the party organs that we have on ground were posted to wards other than where they come from as also given instruction by the guideline of the congress.
“On the day of the congress, we issued a statetement in which I believe it was well captured by the media, where we told all members that they should come out enmass and the congress was held at the points where ward congress or ward meetings are being held”.
“We divided ourselves up into 3, some people went to the South, representing the 3 senatorial district, the Secretary went to the North and I stayed in the Central, some members went to the South and through this, we were able to cover as many of the wards as possibly within the time frame.
“From the totality of what we saw, which is a good representation of what happened in other places that we could not reach, we were convinced that indeed APC is well and alive in Ondo State; members were quiet enthusiastic, we saw the number of people that came out, the congress went as being mentioned, names have been agreed, and what happened in those places were affirmations of some of the names that have been previously agreed by the members”.
He further stated that at the end of the day, reports and results has been coming in all have been compiled, the exercise was peaceful, the turnout was impressive, the enthusiasm had been good.
“Although there were few blemishes in some areas which has been resolved in the last 24 to 48 hours.”
His words “what we have been asked to come and do here by the national office has been done which is to conduct the ward congress for Ondo state. The ward executive which is about 27 per ward as we speak, the 203 wards in Ondo State has been put together and we are on our way to the national office to go and submit this for onward processing by the national office. Somethings still has to be done like approval, consent,” Gboyega said.
While commending the All Progressives Congress, APC chairman, Engr Ade Adetimehin, all the stakeholders of APC for their co-orporation, Gboyega also appreciated the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu for his co-orporation, support and assistance.
“With the kind of coorporation that we got among the members and everyone, APC remains a party to beat” Gboyega said.
