Driver lands in Prison for beating Ondo Govt’s officials

An Ondo state magistrate court sitting in Idanre local government has convicted a driver, Samson Akingbasote to four months imprisonment for beating up and harassing environmental officials during today’s monthly sanitation exercise in the state; SUNSHINETRUTH can report.

The prosecutor, Sanitarian Olayemi John told the court that Akingbasote manhandled the officials during environmental sanitation day on Saturday when he was being questioned why he did not observe the exercise.

The suspect had pleaded guilty to the charges and pleaded for leniency.

He was however sentenced to four months imprisonment with option of #5,000 fine on each of the two counts levelled against him

The court also ordered him to pay a sum of #7,000.00 for the Officers he harassed.

Meanwhile, this months Environmental Sanitation Exercise was observed in Idanre with mixed level of commitment as some people were seen around Idale, Irowo, MTD and Alade Idanre cleaning their environment while some were seen playing football on the deserted Depot Junction of Idanre township when the exercise was still on going.
