Journalists set to elect new NUJ National officers today

All is now set today thursday 7th October, 2021 for the election of new National officers to run the affairs of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in the next three years.

Yesterday Wednesday, the NUJ President, Chris Isiguzo confirmed that a court order on the election had been vacated.

Over 900 delegates are expected to vote to election new officer today in Umuahia, Abia state.

“To the Glory of God, the Ex-parte Order obtained by some union members in Ogun State Council from the Ibadan Division of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria suspending the 7th Triennial Delegates Conference has been vacated by the court in Ibadan today (on Wednesday).

“With this, all encumbrances have been cleared. I therefore use this opportunity to welcome our teeming delegates from across the country to Umuahia, Abia State. In all, the Union is the winner as collective interest surpasses individual’s interest,” Isiguzo said.

7th NUJ TRIENNIAL NATIONAL DELEGATES CONFERENCE

We want to thank God for journey mercy for all Delegates from across the 36 states and FCT Councils who are in Umuahia for Today’s 7th NUJ TRIENNIAL NATIONAL DELEGATES CONFERENCE. 

We wish to notify the Delegates that voting will start immediately after Business Session by 2:00pm. We therefore urge State Councils to note this vital information.

Chairmen and Secretaries of Councils are to be at the venue: Dr. Michael Okpara Auditorium, early for accreditation of their delegates. The Chairmen/Secretaries should come with HARD COPY of their delegates’ list.

The voting pattern will be on alphabetical order of zones (A, B, C, D, E & F).
