Ondo: KIDSCON Foundation celebrates 1,000 Pupils, unveils Hon Tunji-ojo as Ambassador, Biyi Poroye as Consultant

The founder and Coordinator of Kidscon foundation, Mrs. Bankole Funmi, at the weekend in Akure unveiled a member of the House Representatives from Akoko Northeast/Northwest federal constituency, Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo as the Brand Ambassador and Prince Poroye Biyi Bill as the Consultant.

The 2021 edition of the programme which was held today, 3rd July, 2021 at the International Conference and Cultural Event Centre (The Dome) in Akure, the state capital of Ondo State.

She said that the event is purposely to celebrate kids in both primary and secondary schools, stressing that the programme is to help the orphans who have financial challenge to further their educations. She further noted that some of the kids who were celebrated at the median edition of the programme are already at the different Universities in and outside the country.

The programme which was held today, had in attendance over 1,000 kids from 45 different public schools both at the primary and secondary levels.

At the event, Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, a member House of Representatives representing Akoko North East/ North West Federal Constituency and Chairman House Committee on NDDC was represented by Hon. Adebayo Lanre.

While giving his opening remark, Hon. Adebayo described Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo as a compassionate man who has the interest of the pupils at heart and always ready to assist the less privileged.

In the same vein, Prince Poroye Biyi Bill, an APC chieftain and Chairman Emerging Political Platform in Ondo State was unveiled as the Consultant of the foundation.

Poroye, while giving his address, appreciated the Coordinator of Kidscon, Mrs. Bankole Funmi for her Initiative. He also commended her vision and mission. Furthermore, Poroye thanked Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo for his robust assistance in making the programme a successful one just as he commended and applauded the sponsorship of the federal lawmaker.

While delivering her speech, the coordinator of Kidscon foundation, Mrs. Funmi Bankole directed all the students present at the event to give Bunmi Tunji-Ojo a standing and clapping ovation. She described Bunmi Tunji-Ojo as a reliable, generous, humble and God-fearing personality who always interested in the growth and development of other people.

“Bunmi Tunji-Ojo is man who does not allow egoism and egotism to rule his life”.

She noted that the event was organized to help connect school kids together irrespective of the backgrounds, stressing that the importance of the programme is to take kids off the street and bring them back to the classroom to receive quality education.

She further confirmed that the initiative has helped kids both at the primary and pecondary school levels through scholarship scheme. She however expressed pain over the inability of the foundation to carry out 2020 edition of the scheme due to Covid-19 pandemic.

According to her, “The event is purposely to celebrate kids both at the primary and secondary levels between age 5 and 17. We have given scholarship award to over 50 students and by the grace of God, we will start another phase today”.

”We are interested in developing the orphans who have no support to further their educations. Some of the children who started the Kidscon some years back are now in different Universities”.

“We urge the governments and individuals to give the foundation the needed support so that we can achieve our aims and objectives better. We also need people of like minds to work together for effective service delivery.” Mrs. Bankole said.

She finally charged the kids to be committed and focused in their academic pursuit as she also encouraged the government to support the initiative.
