Ondo NLC Women Committee elects new Excos

Faces of Comrades at the election.

A new Executive of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Women’s Committee, Ondo State Chapter, has been elected and inaugurated.

The election and the inauguration took place at the NLC Permanent Secretariat, Ondo road, Akure, the State capital on Monday July 12, 2021.

The newly elected executives of the NLC Women’s Wing are;
Comrade Yemisi Musa as the chairperson, Comrade Ibideji Ronke Janet as the Vice Chairperson, Comrade Gbemisola Omopariola as the Secretary, Lucy Ojajuni as the Assistance Secretary, Yemisi Alonge as an Ex officio and Omowunmi Folarin also as an Ex officio.

        
In a remark, the Ondo state NLC Chairman, Comrade Sunday Adeleye-Oluwole charged the newly returned Executives of the Women’s Committee to sustain their good performance that earned them second term and appreciated God for bringing the executives led by Comrade Yemisi Musa this far.

Adeleye represented by one of the NLC State Vice Chairmen, Comrade Ekeinde Festus promised that the Congress under his leadership would continue to  support the Women’s committee.

The NLC Chairman advised the women’s committee against divisive tendency, aslo urged the cooperate with the National Body to achieve success.

Also speaking, the National Representative and returning officer for the State Women’s Committee election, Comrade Tunde Olagoke described Ondo State Women Committee as outstanding and pace better.

Olagoke said, “the election is without contestation, it went as planned and we were able to exhibit democratic principles as all the candidates comported themselves in a civil manner that is expected of a normal situation”.

He noted that the corporation, unity and onesness among them made the election and inauguration a huge success.

Olagoke advised them to more committed to the course of improving welfare of female workforce in the state.

The Chairperson of the NLC Women’s Committee who was returned unopposed, Comrade Yemisi Musa in her address, said that the journey which started 4years ago has finally come to an end which is a testament to the truth that every beginning has an ending.

She thanked God for giving her grace to pilot the Committee well so far, urging members to sustain their support for her leadership in the next four years.

In her words, “we were elected into office for a four year term exactly four years ago during the regime of a dynamic Labour Leader, Comrade B.V. Daramola. The journey has not only been rough and tough but also interesting, serving the women in the affiliate unions of NLC.”

“In the course of our leadership and stewardship, we have been able to organize a successful children’s party, put together and end of the year get-together cum award giving ceremony to our Labour Veterans and respected unionist of note, respond to national and international calls for meetings and programmes that touches womenfolk, call regular meetings for the purpose of information dissemination, organized lectures on health and life after retirement and actively participated in international women’s day year in year out”.

While Saluting the doggedness and solid support of everyone who has contributed in no mean measure to the success of outgoing administration, Comrade Musa commended the Chairman NLC, Ondo State for ensuring peaceful election and transition in the women’s wing.

Her words “on behalf of my humble self and other officers, I would like to express special thanks to the State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress for all his efforts to ensure we have a peaceful election devoid of rancour or acrimony and to express our warmly felt appreciation to the NLC, SAC and SEC members for their love and support.

“I also want to extend our thanks  the distinguished delagates who renewed the confidence they respond in us as we promised to work harder, because we believe that no view is useful if we do not see and no words have value if we do not listen.

“We will be ready to listen to all representatives and to work with them to ensure the Women continue to be great in the unionism and society at large,” Comrade Yemisi Musa said.
