Ondo Rep, BTO organises Maths Competition for 142 students, 71 schools in Akoko

For his love and passion for education as catalyst for meaningful development and self-actualisation, the lawmaker representing Akoko Northeast and Northwest has commenced a mathematics quiz competition for secondary school students in his constituency.

The competition is coming weeks after the federal lawmaker purchased JAMB forms for 1000 candidates who are currently undergoing free tutorials in preparation for the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board(JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

This maiden edition of the Bunmi Tunji-Ojo mathematics competition held at the Victory college, Ikare featured 142 students from 71 private and public secondary schools in the constituency.

Coordinator of the programme, Tosin Dada said the initiative was burned out of Mr Tunji-Ojo’s efforts at lending a helping hand to indigent students.

He said that those who come out in flying colours will be handsomely rewarded with scholarship and other prizes.

He added that the competition as envisioned by Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, will among other other objectives stimulate competitive spirit in the students.

Some teachers including Chairman of the National Association of Proprietors of secondary schools in Akoko northwest, Femi Oluwatuyi, said the programne will stimulate the students’ passion for mathematics and motivate them to strive for the best in their academics.

The participants, including Joel victor said the examination would provoke their interest in mathematics with the overall effect on their academic lives.

After the second stage of the competition on a yet-to-be-announced date, those with excellent performance will be rewarded on the 10th of June this year as the junior students of victory college smiled home with BTO customised exercise books and other writing materials.

It would be recalled that strenghtening of security agencies for effective performance with donation of buses, provision of infrastructure and renovation of schools are some of the imprints of Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo in his constituency.
