Reps member Makinde, Wife, DROMI put smiles on faces of Widows in Ondo

Yesterday Friday like their regular practice, the dynamic couple, Dr Rhoda and Hon Abiola Makinde, Member representing Ondo East and Ondo West Federal Consistuency in conjuction with his wife’s non-governmental organisation, Dr Rhoda Makinde Initiative, DROMI, rolled out another round off palliative packages for the less privileged to put smiles on the faces of thousands of widows in his consistuency.

The event which was held at Oba Adesanoye Civic Centre, Ondo City attracted dignitaries and top government’s functionaries within the length and breadth of Ondo East and Ondo West local government areas and beyond.

Hon Abiola Peter Makinde, who is also the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Federal Character, ensured that after all widows at the event were gifted with pieces of clothes and food packages, every other attendee at the event also benefitted from the gesture.

The highly elated widows couldn’t contain their excitement and recounted how Hon Makinde and his wife had formed an impenetrable shield of solace amidst the reality of a harsh economy. They sang songs of praises and appreciation which will in no little way encourage their benefactors to do more.

Hon Makinde while speaking to news correspondents after the event noted how many more of this program have been scheduled and also thanked the women for always making themselves available.

In his words, “We appreciate our women for always making out time to attend these kinds of event put in place to intervene in their welfare on periodic basis. It is the dream of my wife and I to touch as many lives as we possibly could, positively. 

“There is no denying the reality that we have a harsh economy to contend with but this fight is not only for the government, it is our collective responsibility as humans to look out for one another,afterall, we are all we got.”

A statement signed by Alli Moshood Abiodun, the lawmaker’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity indicates that Hon Makinde thanked his constituents and teeming supporters, assuring them of more interventions to alleviate their suffering in months to come.
