….. felicitate people of Ondo State on “Thanksgiving Day “
The Chairman, Governing Council of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, RUGIPO, Barr Banji Alabi has felicitated the people of Ondo state and Governor Oluwatotimi Akeredolu in commemoration of the victories recorded from polling units to Supreme Court.
In a Press Statement, Alabi said the victories from the good people of Ondo State to the Election Petitions Tribunal, Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Nigeria, called for thanksgiving.
The Chairman opined that, “Your Excellency: I congratulate you today as you lead the good people of Ondo State, to a thanksgiving service in Owo, in commemoration of the victories of the good people of Ondo State at the Election Petitions Tribunal, Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Nigeria
“I humbly recommend that every 4th Sunday of the month of August be declared Thanksgiving celebration Day as a mark of honour for the special honour bestowed on u by the almighty God on this very day.
“Thanksgiving day is a time when the good people of Ondo State should celebrate our resilience as a people, the plentiful yield of our soil . . . the beauty of our land . . . the preservation of those ideals of liberty, freedom and justice that form the basis of our culture as a people , and the hope of peace.” as our country is now named as No 3 in the index of the terrorist nations in the world .
“We must be resolute in our collective obligation and responsibilities to defend the enduring principles of freedom that form the foundation of our Nation. During these extraordinary time,we find particular assurance from our Thanksgiving of today, which reminds us that we, as a people and individual, always have reason to hope and trust in God, despite the great adversity we have to contend with, among this adversities we are contending with today are of a sophistication, hitherto, unknown in the history of the south- west and our nation.
“The grazing route just created by the Federal government is in my own opinion, a grave error of judgement which may precipitate another round of violence, arson, armed robbery , rape, and kidnapping. I will recommend that the National Assembly and the Governors’ Forum adopt ranching, which is a better alternative
“Mr Governor- some crucial hours may lie ahead. In those hours, the success of our cause will depend on you. The year 2023 is around the corner, when we shall call upon you once again for a bigger national service and national assignment.
“The hour is close-by when we shall call on you to make us proud
“Your training has prepared you. Your services to the good people of Ondo state will give you the necessary edge and advantage. Your honor will guide you.
“You believe in Nigeria , and NIGERIANS believes in you. We seek peace. We must strive for it. And at all time it must be defended. A future lived at the mercy of terrorist , bandits and terrible threats is no peace at all.
“The time is close and the year 2023 is fast approaching, when we the good people of Ondo State and the people of our nation shall call on you “ to come to Mesopotamia “ and help
“And then it shall be a National Thanksgiving and we shall set every 4th Sunday of August as our National Thanksgiving Day
“Happy Thanksgiving Day to a worthy leader and a true son of our heritage, Happy thanksgiving Day to the good people of Ondo State. Happy thanksgiving Day to all Nigerians home and abroad,” Alabi said.
