Six federal roads collapsed in Ondo, Travellers stranded on Akure-Owo-Akoko roads

Motorists are currently groaning at Ogbese town over the deplorable condition of Akure-Owo Highway, this is even as many of them hooked in a trafficjam along the road.

SUNSHINETRUTH reporter who visited the area, observed that the gridlock was caused by poor condition of the road which is gradually becoming a death trap.

According to the reporter, a particular section of the road had cut off completely and a deep pothole is on the road, making vehicles to spend several hours in the town

It was also gathered that the diversion of traffic to roads within Ogbese main town, did not even ease the gridlock.

The stranded travellers, also urged the federal government to urgently repair the road before it gets out of control.

Some of the road users who are working in Owo and Akoko areas as well as Lagos/Abuja passengers called on the Federal Government as well as the Ondo state government to find a lasting solution to the collapsed axis of the federal highway.

Also, Akure-Ado Ekiti road has also collapsed as many portions of the road have cut off, while some portions of Owo-Benin city highway has also collapsed.

The travellers questioned the existence of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) in Ondo state, and appealed to the federal government to mobilise contractor to Akure-Ado Ekiti road immediately to save socio-economic activities of the people.

In the maintain time, SUNSHINETRUTH also understands that many travellers and residents are now stranded in Akoko area of Ondo state due to deplorable condition of major roads that link the area with Abuja route and southwest parts.

It was gathered that some bad roads in the area that residents are lamenting the poor state of Isua-Ifira-Idoani road, Arigidi-Erusu- Ikaram- Ajowa roads as well as Iboropa-Ise-Auga-Akunnu Akoko road to Kabba in Kogi state and to Ibilo in Edo state, where many heavy duty vehicles had broke down.

Our reporter observed that many vehicles trapped at the bad portions of the roads making travellers to sleep on the road and stranded for days, even as the affected people appealed to Ondo state and federal governments to repair failed portions of the road.

Also Confirming this, A community leader from Ikaram-Akoko, Alhaji  Basiru Aminu the bad roads had made it difficult for residents to travel to Ikare Akoko for daily transactions.

Also, a farmer from Ayeteju Ikaram Akoko, Mr Ade Ajayi revealed that farmers in the area were equally affected negatively with the bad road.

However, our reporter gathered that Owo-Ikare Akoko road is undergoing rehabilitation and is relatively motorable.
