PRESS STATEMENT

THE TESTAMENT OF LOYALTY; THE PARTY IS SUPERIOR, HER INTEREST IS BIGGER AND MY PRINCIPAL, THE PEOPLE’S GOVERNOR REMAINS OUR LEADER

Gentlemen of the press:

Ecclesiastes 9:11
I returned and saw under the sun that— The race is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor bread to the wise, Nor riches to men of understanding, Nor favor to men of skill; But time and chance happen to them all.

Overwhelmingly, the pressure has been there, since the inception of the preparation towards 2023 general elections to run.

You; the people, have consistently demanded for another shot towards the attainment of effect representation in the legislative arms of the hallowed chamber of Ondo State House of Assembly.

Despite all odds and the very valid and credible arguments which beyond doubt gives credence to the pressure to run, I come before you today with a deep sense of humility and appreciation for this show of love.

I am a party man, with firm believe in the superiority of the party and its leadership.

Few moments still, before this address, once again my ardent but inspiring followers, reminded me of my sacrifice in the vineyard of our party and utmost commitment towards the realization of the dreams of having it deeply rooted in my state constituency and at large.

While I’m in no way, undermine these arguments, many more notable individuals paid enormous sacrifices beyond my contributions and have remained in the party in good faith without a need to uncharitably oppose the leadership of our great party.

Ours is patriotism and the passion to serve. Ditto, with the overwhelming will to help our Governor deliver more of the dividends of democracy through the instrumentality of the parliament.

Ultimately, there is nothing to share in rancorous party affairs, nor gains to make, in defiance to a man who I have wholeheartedly adored. My principal, our Governor, the People’s Governor of Ondo State.

Mr. Governor remains my leader and mentor. Therefore as the leader of our party, I owe an irrevocable allegiance to accept in good faith and support the decision of the party.

I wish to restate to my followers, that this is not the end of the journey. Many more years lies ahead of us to climb the ladder for the common good of our dear State and beyond.

The road may be rough, tough and enormously challenging. Some may even feel disappointed by my resolve to abide by the party’s decision. I understand the mood of my supporters, I respect your doggedness, resilience and genuineness to the cause that started many years ago. You were all with me through the thick and thin in 2015, under our great party when we sought to reclaim our stolen mandate through the laid down procedures in the laws of our land.

I do not forget all those heroic sacrifices. I am not oblivious of the efforts of our Govenor in the legal battle then to restore the mandate. I am aware that this decision to abide by the dictate of the party may be a bitter pill to swallow for everyone of you. But please do this not just for me, but in the interest of our party, our love for Mr. Governor and most importantly the unity of purpose moving forward to the general elections.

I unbundle my heart this day with the stylistic dexterity of George Orwell the writing coiled from the famous passage of Ecclesiastes 9:11.  George Orwell wrote a parody of it designed to ridicule the bloated writing of his day:

“OBJECTIVE CONSIDERATION OF CONTEMPORARY PHENOMENA COMPELS THE CONCLUSION THAT SUCCESS OR FAILURE IN COMPETITIVE ACTIVITIES EXHIBITS NO TENDENCY TO BE COMMENSURATE WITH INNATE CAPACITY, BUT THAT A CONSIDERABLE ELEMENT OF THE UNPREDICTABLE MUST INVARIABLY BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT.”

Please hold this words so daring to your heart, my dearest people.

Now I must conclude, with the biblical assertion in Romans 9:16; “So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy”.

Both House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senatorial elections , we shall deliver.

Thank you all and God bless.
