What we know about killing of Butchers by herders —Ondo Police

The Nigeria Police have reacted to the kidnapping of one butcher, killing of two others and injuring one by suspected herdsmen at a village around Ala forest reserve in Akure North local government area of Ondo state.

SUNSHINETRUTH had earlier reported the incident that occurred on Monday when the victims went to the bush to buy cow from the herders who have been their business partners for years.

Reacting to the incident, the Ondo State Police Command’s spokesperson, Mrs Funmi Odulami said “two of the three butchers have been killed. Their bodies were found in Tafa camp within the Ala forest reserve by our men while searching and combing the bush after we were alerted about the abduction.

“Those who perpetrated the act have  called the unit which the butchers belong to that the remaining butcher is still with them and alive.

“Information revealled that the butchers were going to the reserve with a diana truck to purchase cows all the way from Akure.

“The butcher that was macheted on his face was found groaning in pain  at the camp when police raced to the scene. The victim was rushed to general hospital for treatment and later taking to police hospital akure for further treatment and he is recuperating.

“Investigation have began towards arresting the culprits and as well to rescue the victim,” the PPRO said.
