Why you must fit physically —Ondo govt tells Workers

The Ondo State Government has stressed the need for workers to combine physical fitness with their mental alertness for them to effectively deliver in their daily activities.

The state commissioner for Lands and Infrastructure, Engr. Raimi Aminu made this position known while speaking with newsmen at the weekend, during a Health-Walk organised as part of a one-week induction programme for the newly recruited engineers and other professionals in the ministry.

According to the Director Press of the Ministry, Sina Adeyeye, the Health-Walk, which took a tourism dimenssion took the team to the ancient Idanre Hill in Idanre Local Government Area of the state.

Represented by the Director of Civil Engineering in the ministry, Engr. Adewodun Oloniyo, the commissioner said the heath walk was informed by the need to know the fitness status of the inductees.

‘We brought them here for two purposes. First to test their physical strength if they are fit for the task ahead. And thank God we realized they are all fit.’ Said the commissioner.

‘At the same time, we want them to note that it is not work work all the time. They should usually have time to recreate.’ Aminu added.

‘At least, being able to climb about 820 steps, that means they have the capacity of facing whatever comes with the job.’ He expressed further.

One of the new officers, Engr. Erejuwa Adebayo, who noted that site works could not be executed without physical agility, thanked Gov. Akeredolu for. their employment with a promise to put in their best.

He said the tour would also afford the new officers the opportunity to advise the government on structural development of the Idanre Hills tourist site.

‘In his words ‘It was a wonderful experience. I have being hearing about Idanre hills. So I want to appreciate the Ondo State government for this initiative.’

‘If you are not physically fit, you cannot perform as an engineer. And this tour has really helped us.’
